Why Pixelate a Video File?

Pixelating an entire video file is most often a deliberate stylistic choice intended to evoke a retro, low-fidelity aesthetic reminiscent of early 8-bit gaming, data-moshing, or "glitch art" culture, effectively transforming standard footage into abstract digital impressionism. Beyond this artistic application, applying a global pixelation filter serves as a comprehensive privacy measure or censorship tool; it allows the viewer to perceive the general motion, pacing, and audio context of a scene while completely scrubbing all identifiable details—such as faces, license plates, or sensitive locations—ensuring total anonymity or masking graphic content that is unsuitable for clear viewing.

How can i Pixelate a Video File?

You can pixelate a video file using your web browser at http://webmconverter.app you just simply need to select your video file from the interface using the select button on the correct video conversion page.

 

This should open the file selection dialog and limit your visible files to your selected format. In this example i selected the mkv format as my source video file, but many other formats are also supported.

Once the video file has been selected from your storage device, it's may take a few seconds for the video file to be inspected by the video processor. Once the file has been inspected you will be able to see some information about the video file. If the video file was correctly probed.

In this example we will be using a mkv file named sintel a free video file for proposes such as this.

Where is this Pixelate Video Filter?

You can find the pixelate video filter  on a video converters page. Scroll down to the organized video filters section and select the "pixelate - Pixelate" filter.

Once you have found this option on the organized video filters drop down selection, click add and you will see the following options.

Typically you would want pixels at the same aspect ratio of the video file, you can do this by entering the correct width and height values from the source input file. As shown in the video information table above. But there maybe some situation where this may not be relevant. By changing these values you can get different effect, it's up to you to experiment.

The scale setting on this form will change the actual relative size of the pixelation, typically you would want this to be on the higher size as the effect is far more noticeable.

Once you are happy with your settings scroll down to the convert button and click it, to start the conversion process.

when the progress bar reaches 100% a download button will appear so that you can download the output to your storage device.
